Before InMobi shows any ad, you need:

A free InMobi account
A payment profile (bank + PAN)
InMobi reviews your app (a few days)

If you stop half-way nothing breaks: InMobi simply does not bid, and Google keeps filling your ads as before.

You will copy these into AdMob:

Steps

Tick each step when done. Your ticks are saved on this device.

Sign up at publisher.inmobi.com/signup and log in after InMobi verifies your account.
Go to Inventory > Inventory Settings, click Add Inventory, choose the Mobile App channel and search your Google Play URL (or use Link manually if unpublished).
Create a placement for each format with Audience Bidding set to On and Partner set to Google SDK Bidding (contact your InMobi account manager if the option is missing).
Copy the Placement ID shown under each placement name.
Copy your Account ID from Finance > Payment Settings > Payment Information.
In AdMob go to Mediation, click Create mediation group (or open one), choose the format and Android, and add your ad units.
In the Bidding card click Add ad source, pick InMobi (SDK), and accept the partnership agreement shown.
Click Add mapping, enter the Account ID and Placement ID, click Done, then Save.
Download your personalized app-ads.txt lines from InMobi and add them to your file.

Watch out for

The placement must have Audience Bidding On with partner Google SDK Bidding; a waterfall placement mapped in the Bidding card never bids.

The Account ID is under Finance > Payment Settings, not the app or placement id.

The InMobi app must be the same Android app (same package) you map in AdMob.

app-ads.txt

InMobi dashboard > Inventory > app-ads.txt gives a personalized snippet with your InMobi payment/seller ID; verification status under My Account > Manage App-ads.txt. Format: 'inmobi.com, <your seller account ID>, DIRECT, 83e75a7ae333ca9d' (83e75a7ae333ca9d is InMobi's TAG ID for all lines; do NOT use the publisher GUID).

Who pays you

Google pays you, inside your normal AdMob payment (InMobi: Google manages payment and billing for SDK Bidding on AdMob).
